The Coppice PTA is a group of friendly, like-minded parents and teacher representatives. Our main aim is to raise funds for our children’s school by organising fun events throughout the year. In order to achieve this we meet on a regular basis at the school to discuss and plan forthcoming events.
The PTA’s main fundraising events are the Christmas Fayre held at the beginning of December, where you can browse the numerous craft stalls, decorate Christmas biscuits, play the tombola, have your child’s hair colour sprayed or their face painted plus much, much more. The children love to visit Santa in his wonderful, colourful Grotto – a good way to start the countdown to the festive season.
Our Summer Revel, held in June or July, is a great way to spend a day, whether visiting or setting up and helping. The children can start off by joining in the fancy dress parade, followed by having a go on the bouncy castle, playing on the many games stalls set up in the arena, competing in races, trying to beat the goalie, or scoring the highest score with a set of 3 darts. When parents have been walked off their feet, they can indulge in a nice cold beer or perhaps a freshly made cream tea and watch the dancing and gymnastic displays. There is always plenty to see and do at the Revel.
Events held last year included film nights, quizzes and a Halloween disco to name but a few. All of these events have helped the PTA to raise a considerable amount of money for equipment, mathematics resources, computer equipment and books. We have provided a new freezer and cooker for the school kitchen plus paying for the maintenance of the minibus, a valuable asset for the school. The members of the PTA also provide behind the scenes help such as refreshments for the school productions, sports days, Year 6 final assembly, plus providing the food and gifts for the infant’s Christmas party and Christmas gifts for the junior classes.
Whilst the PTA is successful in the events it organises, we are always open to new suggestions of ways to raise money. This is where you the parent can help. We desperately need new, enthusiastic members to swell our numbers. We have already started to pencil in events for this school year and you could be part of the fun as well. You do not need to hold an official position on the committee, just turn up at our meetings of which you will be notified in the Coppice News. Even if you can only help for a few hours it will be appreciated.
