At The Coppice, we run regular workshops e.g. phonics, handwriting, early writing, early reading and early maths to help support Parents and Carers with understanding how we teach your child these crucial, foundational skills. We run these events across the course of the academic year and try to arrange them at convenient times that enable at least one Parent or Carer to attend as possible. For some of these events, we also include your child so that you can listen and work alongside them.
We know from the feedback that we have received following these events that Parents and Carers find them extremely useful in understanding ‘how we do things these days’, which enables you to support your child more easily at home and to also understand the ‘language’ that they may use when talking to you about their learning.
We do understand that sometimes Parents and Carers are a little nervous about attending events such as these. However, please be reassured that we never put you under pressure and always look to ensure that these sessions are as fun and informative as possible. They are always well-attended so you won’t be on your own! We therefore strongly encourage you to attend if you can and genuinely feel that your child will benefit greatly if you do.
As a school, we have also developed a range of resources designed to help explain to Parents and Carers the approaches we take in our teaching, so that understanding of how your child is being taught is enhance. We are really want to help make supporting your child further feel achievable. The resources cover a variety of areas, such as and will be in multi-format, including some videos
