The Coppice actively promotes British Values and challenges opinions or behaviours that are contrary to them.
Fundamental British Values are:
Democracy:
We have the right to have an opinion and a voice e.g. a vote in a General Election.
We respect other people’s views and allow everyone to share their opinions.
We make decisions together e.g. helping to decide what is best for our school or country
The Rule Of Law:
The Law is important. It ensures that everyone’s rights are respected and that we are kept safe.
We understand rules and why they are important
We understand right from wrong
Individual Liberty:
We are free to make our own choices and express our individuality.
We try our best to do what is right and fair.
We are allowed to hold have our own opinions as long as these are respectful of others
Mutual Respect:
We respect the values, ideas and beliefs of others and don’t try to force our own on others
We treat others as we would like to be treated
We have respect for each other
We work together to make our society or school better
Tolerance:
We value those with different faiths and beliefs to us and those without faith
We want to learn about different faiths and cultures
We value diversity in our school and country
We listen to others’ viewpoints
We respect that some people may think differently to us
Through our PSHE and RE provision, along with our general school ethos/approach and the wider curriculum, The Coppice actively promotes these values in a number of ways. Please refer to the documents below to see this in greater detail.
